In the 1980’s when Matthew was in high school in rural North Carolina, he took a photography class - ’real photography’ - a darkroom, red lights, film, and the titillating smell of the chemicals involved. After graduation, the normal demands of life soon followed - get a job, make a gainful income (whatever that means), being a ‘regular’ person. Matthew went on to become an ordained minister in the fundamentalist Baptist movement while working jobs and going to a local Bible college. In 1996 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies with a minor in pastoral counseling. In 1998 he completed the Master of Arts in Ministry degree.
After serving for several years in the pastorate, he began to be disillusioned by the fundamentalist movement and began to ‘back away’ - slowly.… After finally leaving the active ministry and church altogether, in 2016 he got the photography ‘bug’ once again. He saved enough money to buy an Olympus OMD micro four thirds camera and began his ‘grown up’ photography journey. Since then Matt has completed his photography education at the New York Institute of Photography, completing the Certificate in Portrait Photography as well as the Certificate in Photojournalism. Matthew has won several international competitions and has been featured in online magazines for his fetish/adult conceptual photographic art and portraiture. Enjoy - RattHouse Studios
